Ohio Camino Day 6
Loveland, Ohio, what a pretty little trail town with your quant shops, delicious restaurants, ample bathrooms, and plenty of rest benches. We love you so much we slept in, stuck around for an early lunch, Uber’d to our original lunch stop, and walked the remaining 7 of our 15 miles. The weather overnight was ugly […]
Ohio Camino Day 5
I really don’t want to tell you about our choices today but I am not going to worry about what you think. Our goal was 14.7 miles. We knew today was going to be tough for a couple of reasons. First, as always, I am having foot issues again. UGH I am beyond irritated that […]
Ohio Camino Day 4
I’m no longer having bad thoughts about Meteorologists or Mother Nature. I am embracing Wim Hof and his cold theories. Think about this – after a game athletes take ice baths. We’ve received a good ice bath every day of this trip thus far. Hallelujah! 🤨🤷🏻♀️ I am channeling Elsa as I sing, “the cold […]
Ohio Camino Day 3
Glorious day 3, oh how glorious you are for getting us back on track. We slept like babies, awoke with a renewed spirit, our legs were miraculously healed overnight, and as a bonus, the sun was shining. In 3 days we have covered over 30 miles, with almost half of that mileage being today. We […]
Ohio Camino Day 2
The sun teased us a few times today but the cold air never gave us a break. I hate trusting a forecast only to be disappointed by it. The 2nd day of walking is always harder. Momentum doesn’t come as easy as the first days adrenaline rush. The aches and pains start to kick in. […]
Ohio Camino Day 1
It’s cold, snowing, and the wind attempted to knock us off our feet most of the day. Fortunately on this bike trail we were a bit protected from the wind because the reality of how windy it actually was illustrated at every street crossing. 😩 Have I set the scene? We’re ridiculous, but we’re even […]
Living a Life of Adventure = Achieving Goals
It’s critical to focus on the positive when you’re deep in the weeds working on your goals. And, oh my gosh, these weeds are thick! At the of each day, we want to be able to say, “we did everything we could.” We want to say that but some days we just soak in our […]
Is Turning 50 Tough? Setting Goals for a New Year
“Age is not important unless you’re a cheese.” Helen Hayes Turning 50 isn’t hard in the literal sense. One day it’s a Tuesday and you are 49, the next day is a Wednesday and you are 50 years old. Sure, literally it is not difficult. But we all know how the mind plays tricks on […]
Heal Yourself: An Intermittent Fasting Life
The final post of this intermittent fasting (IF) series is here. I have reflected on how far I have come since I started practicing IF two years ago, stayed focused on my 2021 goals, and thanks to your feedback, I know I have inspired a few people. If you decide to practice IF, one thing I can guarantee is your journey will not look like mine or anyone else's journey. Now let's get into looking at what our IF practice has looked like over the last two years and talk about the changes we made to our practice.
IF Series, Part 6: Lessons Learned from Intermittent Fasting
I've met a lot of diets I loathed within weeks of starting them, sometimes less. The thought of the cabbage soup diet still gives me nightmares. Counting points, counting calories, never eating carbs again, putting food in pre-portioned boxes, 3-day detox diets, and meal prepping, honestly, all give me a massive headache. Brian and I have been practicing IF for two years and it has been the most freeing, most rewarding relationship we have ever had with food. We have learned a lot about IF and that's what I am going to talk about today.
